Farm Investment and Attraction

Outcome:  A ‘One Stop Shop’ utilised as an information source for investors in the dairy industry established in the Murraylands and Limestone Coast regions.

Project Activities and Achievements:

  • Resource Agreement Established
Limestone Coast & Murraylands Regional Development Boards

A resource agreement has been drawn up with both the Limestone Coast and Murraylands Regional Development Boards establishing  them as the “one stop shop’ information brokers for potential new investors into the dairy industry.  As information brokers they have funds and other resources from this project for the on going promotion and attraction of industry investment as described in the ADP proposal.

  • Development of SA Dairy Industry Website
    www.dairyindustrysa.com.au

The South Australian dairy industry website has been developed as a ‘one stop shop’ for all information on the SA dairy industry.   This has been an exciting achievement for the ADP project and has been widely supported by the dairy industry, with many industry partners contributing, sponsoring and being actively involved in the site.

The site is a collation of information that has been designed so that it is useful for both existing dairy farmers and potential new investors.  The information ranges from a state dairy diary, weekly news flash, daily weather and daily feed grain prices, technical information, human resource information and useful contacts right through to SA statistics, new potential dairying areas, land, water and infrastructure maps of SA, dairy education and careers, council and EPA requirements and processor information.  The site has also been used as a vehicle for the extension of work completed by the ADP project and many other of the projects underway in the South Australian Dairy Industry.  The site will continue to evolve and develop as a very useful tool for the South Australian dairy industry.  It will continue to operate after the ADP project completion through the regional development boards, PIRSA and the sponsoring industry groups.

  • Dairy Industry Website Launch
    23rd and 25th August 2005

The new dairy industry website was launched by Minister Rory McEwen at the Murraylands Regional Development Board on the 23rd August and at the Limestone Coast Regional Development Board on 25th August.  The launches included the release of the new state plan targets, a speech from the minister and a display of the new website followed by a wine and cheese tasting.  Service providers from around the region who are in contact with potential new investors were invited to attend the launch.  Over 90 people attended both launches including Mayors, councillors, directors of the Regional Development boards, bank managers, local service providers, consultants, processors and dairy farmers.  There was extensive media coverage about the event across the state examples of this are included in the media coverage section in Strategy 1.

  • Information Packages    Appendix 29
