Dairy Australia carries out research, development and extension activities for the benefit of the dairy industry and the community; undertakes activities to develop markets for, and international trade in, Australian dairy produce; provides information and other services; and carries out other activities for the benefit of the Australian dairy industry. Australian Dairy Industry Council - The Australian Dairy Industry Council (ADIC) is the dairy industry's peak policy body. It co-ordinates industry's policy and represents all sectors of the industry on national and international issues through its two constituent bodies, the Australian Dairy Farmers Ltd (ADF) and the Australian Dairy Products Federation (ADPF).

Australian Dairy Farmers – This is the federal organisation representing dairy farming families throughout Australia. ADF consists of dairy farmer organisations from six States, enabling broad based dairy farmer involvement. ADF's main objectives are to promote the development of dairy farming and the dairy industry in Australia. ADF is the dairy commodity council of the National Farmers' Federation (NFF). Australian Dairy Products Federation (ADPF) – This is the peak national policy organisation representing the interests of dairy product manufacturers. The ADPF's primary purpose is to promote the interests of its members to both State and Australian Governments, and other sectors of the community. Membership of the ADPF is voluntary and is funded by membership fees. The ADPF are involved in a range of issues including agri-political activities.

Dairy Industry Association of Australia (DIAA) - This is an organisation for dairy industry professionals. It includes people in scientific research, processing, marketing, administration, education and training, product development, engineering, technology and promotion.
