ROLES OF DAIRY INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT BOARD

The Dairy Industry Development Board was established in 2001 to advise the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Fisheries on the strategic development of industry in South Australia.

It provides a forum for each of the major stakeholder groups in the South Australian dairy sector to develop initiatives that address the challenges and opportunities likely to contribute to the future development of the industry.

A process to review the State Dairy Plan, last updated in 2005, is now underway.

The Board will be consulting with industry to establish new targets for milk production in each of the four dairy regions.  Similarly, targets and issues for dairy manufacturing and exports will be assessed during this planning process.
